If you are self confident then it won't matter what others think.

i hear ya!!! in some situations, i don't use my real name. like on-line. people who don't know you or matter to you, shouldn't have that much power of you.

when i was a kid, i used to get teased by other kids, teachers, parents.... didn't matter.

as i got older, i got defensive and down right nasty. now, it tells me more about a person. people who automatically make fun or laugh are just inconsiderate in general. a person's name is very personal. its like walking up to someone and asking them why they are so ugly. you just don't do it.

but there are good things to having a "different" name. people tend to remember you. people tend to hear the name and want to know you... just to say they know you. people like to say, "i knew a girl named ***** in HS!!!"

I use nicknames on-line, if out at a social event, like a club or bar, I use a "standard" name. My friends all know it and they think its funny, but they go along with it. A select few, can get away with a name joke every now and again. but very few

You shouldn't feel embarrassed. Be proud of your name. If people have a problem with it, just be like.. "well you know what?! it's better than the 500000000000000 other Michaels in the world. Or Johns. Or Megans. My name is unique and if you have a problem with it, I think it derives from your jealousy!"

My name is Moira, and it is quite different. But, I'm proud whenever people exclaim "well, that's different!" Because it makes me unique. :)

well i like hearing unique names. i think it makes cultures much more interesting. what is your actual name?
i have a name that is hard to pronounce and that used to embarass me but i found the best way to get over it was to make fun comments about it myself whenever someone else would say something. Somestimes making a light joke about it makes it harder for others to embarass you.

1. Don't tell anyone the name.
2. Change the name.
3. Be glad your name is not Phyloc like myself or Bruphloc like my sister. (Our parents are sci-fi nuts)
