The herbs in my kitchen have recently been overrun with whitefly and greenfly, laying eggs all over them and also flying around the sink.

Needless to say, my wife is not impressed.:-)

There are all manner of chemicals I COULD spray them with, but as I want to eat these herbs, I am reluctant to do so!

Does anyone know of anything I could spray them with that kills flies but leaves humans standing?

Try making a garlic spray to deter the greenfly, or leave some crushed garlic with herbs.

This was a question on the radio recently! Take the tops off rhubarb and put into boiling water and leave to rot, then use the liquid as a spray. It's apparently very effective, but has one drawback - it STINKS!

take them out side give them a good spray with water and i would leave them outside as the house is warm enough for them to breed faster, spray with washingup liquid diluted with water, this stops them sticking to the plant stem

you could try perithrin, or a product called Insectigon which is organic and is called diatomecious earth (works best on ants though) the other option is put each plant in the sink and use soap and water to brush off any evidence of flies

First try drowning them. (Take a large bucket outside) I use ammonia then rinse completely, if drowning them doesn' do it.
