The easiest way is to get two books - one for things you buy and run the business and one for logging the items/service you sell - Sales and Purchases. Usually, local colleges run night time classes for basic bookkeeping or you could ring a bookkeeper and see if they would be interested in training you (something that I do). There are also basic computer bookkeeping programmes that you could use, ie TAS which is quite simple.

If you're starting a business, it would be a good idea to talk to a CPA to ask what records you need to keep, and what expenses you can deduct.
