If it's about scalar numbers, then yes, 1+1=2. However, if they're vectors with the magnitude 1, then it depends upon their directions - if they have the same directions, then you get 2; if they have opposite directions, then you get 0; if it's something else, use the law of cosines (see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cosine_law).
If it's about 1 Dogar + 1 Kazon, then the result is Deific Duo.
However, I get a feeling that it's in fact about point-gaming, not math. In this case, I must warn you - gambling is prohibited in some countries. I hope you're not in an Islamic country.

If you are adding in binary, the answer is 10, which is that base's representation of base 10's 2. In anything but advanced math, or in vector math, this will always be 2.

A good question ,but I'm not buying that it's for homework !
If your query is what natural numbers are &
a formal definition of addition (as union of certain sets), look up in a book of advanced set theory. Cheers.

Trust me on this, the answer is 56.......now don't bother asking any more, just put that answer down on your homework and hand it in on Monday.
You'll get marked for it, I promise.

If this is preschool then the answer is 2.
If it's university-level then I'm afraid the proof is horrible but you can find it on Google.
If you're somewhere in the middle then it's a pretty stupid question. :S
