I have an older car and the fabric on the "ceiling" lining fabric is coming down in a few places. I can't afford to go to a body shop and have a new liner properly done right now. I was thinking of trying an aresol adhesive or a rubber cement to reattach the fabric to the foam and a calk type sealant around the edges where there is a plastic molding that the fabric is supposed to be tucked under. Any better ideas or specific suggestions on products & brand names that you recommend.

any auto parts store has a spray glue for exactly that purpose. Just sp[ray it on both surfaces, set it sit a few, and put the fabric back in place. Use care to keep it flat.

Well, I've had this same problem many times myself, and I've never been able to find a glue that would hold, not for very long anyway. One thing that DOES work is these little pins you buy at a fabric store, I think they're called "tack pins" or something like that. They look like little tiny corkscrews. Buy some, space them around. They work perfectly. Try to space them in a pattern so they look somewhat normal. You will never get it glued satisfactorily. It will become discolored and also not hold long. Use these pins. It is the best solution, and it is very cheap.

That's quite a dramatic statement! Unfortunately (and more likely than not), she won't stick to her word. She's probably just embarrassed - a typical hormone induced symptom of being a teenager. Don't take this personally - most teenagers (particularly females) are embarrassed of everything their parents may like. I know this is a trying time for you both, but she'll grow out of it a lot sooner than you think - give it a year or two.

A spray on adhesive is a great idea. I've seen it done many times by people in your situation. Good luck.

Spray the fabric and where you want to attach it, let it sit a few minutes till it's tacky and then press the fabric on to the roof and smooth out any wrinkles.
