I have used AVG Anti Virus, Zone Alarm Firewall, Spy-bot Search and Destroy and Ad Aware both spyware killers for years. They are all free for personal use and I have had no trouble with Viruses Trojans etc. AVG does not slow the system down as much as some other products and Zone Alarm allows a lot of personal configuration unlike the Windows Firewall. They can all be downloaded from the following link. http://www.computeractive.co.uk/ On the home page select downloads and then the appropriate category.I also use Windows Defender from the Microsoft site. It is safe to use two anti-spy products but never use more than one A/V as it can cause conflicts. You should run A/V and anti spy weekly. Hope this helps.

AVG and avast are excellent free antivirus products but they have no tech support. No offense, but if you have to ask the question, it might be better to use a product that includes tech support. Kapersky and trend are the two best paid antivirus products froma tech support pont of view. Norton and Mcafee are good to, but are a little more problematic. ALL of those can be found free after rebate. DO NOT use more than one antivirus product at a time. More is NOT better, they will fight each other. BEWARE of "free security products from your ISP, they are watered down versions of somnething good you could have gotten free anyway. And beware , when you do have a good program, make sure that you do not have stealth antivirus procusts that came bundled. AOell has a stripped version of mcafee and Yahoo has a stripped version of Norton. As I said, they will fight your real product. And remember, just like the cops, antivirus does not prevent EVERY virus just like the cops cannot prevent EVERY crime. Nor can it fix every infestation just as the cops cannot solve EVERY crime, but can you imagine if we ever had to live without our heros in blue? If your doing high risk behavior, don't be surprised if you get hit. If your on limewire, bearshare, porn sites, downloading movies, etc, you may as well leave your keys in your car in the bad art of town. So take responsibility for your actions and make good choices. Good luck, have fun, but remember, the internet has dangerous places

Alright, Here's what you do Buddy. Go to AOL.COM....CREATE a AOL Screen Name. Then if you like you can Email me at JAMESLILJIM@YAHOO.COM with the Subject line: Anti Virus Program (Yahoo Answers) and I can send you the Anti-Virus Software. If you choose not to, go back to AOL.COM and SEARCH AOL DOWNLOADS....then when you find it select the first one that shows up under Search Results. Then select "AOL Safety and Security Center" - The Provides you a Firewall, Anti- Virus, Anti Spyware (Tracking Cookies), Anti-Phishing (Bad Websites), Parental Controls (Kids) and Spam Controls (Email).

Please take AOL's Anti-Virus Program into consideration its really MCAFEE's Anti-Virus Program except if you get it through AOL Its FREE....Forever. There's no Trails or Subscriptions with them. INSTALL...REBOOT COMPUTER and your Done!

most virus are spread through IE. IE is not a safe browser. you should use a more secure browser to protect your PC from virus.

i recommand you to use firefox with Google toolbar. firefox can block any any popup and disable any virus and adware, spyware on webpage, so, firefox is much safer than IE browser. as you know, most of virus spread throught internet and webpage.

besides, firefox is much smaller than IE, so it run faster than IE.

download firefox for free, Just have a try:

You can use AVAST or AVG. Sites below

AVG AntiVirus
http://free.grisoft.com/doc/1

Avast Home Antivirus
http://www.avast.com/eng/avast_4_home.html

(Note: Only use one anti-virus product as running more than one can cause conflicts thus rendering each ineffective. Same goes for firewalls)
