I have a video camera that connects only through a firewire cable and my computer only has USB 2.0 ports, and I was wondering if their is a cable or adapter that I can use to connect the camera to one of the USB 2.0 ports.

Firewire (IEEE 1394) and USB (Universal Serial Bus) are two separate high-speed bus technologies that allow multiple devices to be connected to a computer. The two technologies are not integrated, and it is not possible to connect a USB device to a Firewire port either directly or through the use of a Firewire to USB adapter.

There are pci cards that have both ports on them though. Here's a good one:

Netbooks are no longer designed for use for video modifying. some netbooks have a style slot - the two PCMCIA or ExpressCard - maximum do no longer. If yours has one, get an expasion card. If it would not, then that's recommended which you get a working laptop or computing device designed to deal with the pains of video modifying on your case, ideally one with a firewire port, or an attainable strengthen slot so which you will upload one. USB won't paintings - you already understand this... USB-to-firewire cable/converter/hub/adapter issues won't paintings, the two. Analog/digital converters will paintings, however the video high quality isn't very sturdy... top (Dazzle) or Roxio are a sturdy place to start.

Sorry, the two interfaces are incompatible - but you really want a firewire card - they aren't that much, say $40 to $50.

-best luck

Add a pci card, they would be cheaper and MUCH more reliable than any adapter you might find.
