Apparently there is a theory that suggests there is no such thing as light only dark, a heavy, thick matter that moves faster than "light". Is there any basis for this theory?
The example I read about was that a candle wick turns black because of all the dark it has sucked out, while a lightbulb greys over time. But surely string will turn black if it smoulders and hardly emits any light while the evaporated tungsten in bulbs is what causes them to grey.
Who came up with this theory and how does it work? I'm open to believe that anything is possible, I even think that when you have the window open on a dark night it does seem as if the dark seeps in so whats the answer!?

My my betty, your looking very well today. have you done something with your hair recently? it looks good.

anyway, to the question, there is a very good website linked below that has alot of information for you to have a gander towards. it explains where the origins of the theory of light originated and has a very interesting piece about interferience patterns, for example how radio antennas affect the dark.

anyway, have a look at the site and you have a good day betty. talk to you again soon hopefully.

and dont you forget that you are looking particularily ravishing today so you go out and enjoy the sun before the dark envelops you.

fancy some chocolate?

Actually i don't have an answer,I just want to make a comment....

Dark sucker theory is unnecessary. As scientist we seek to confirm every aspect of existence this theory is just an eloquent way to take notice of the obvious.

The 1st words from even Gods mouth in the Bible is Let there be Light....

If you have to command Light into existence then it's obvious the dominating presence is darkness.

If the Universe were made of light then, (this sound stupid) we would not need light. I may even go as far as to say we would not understand darkness for we would not know life without light. There'd be no reason for the Sun.

I wonder what life could be like near the center of the galaxy Where it's populated with billions of stars.

As a Christian I appreciate science very much, as humans we understand science before we know God. Once we know God we learn that he is beyond Physics for if he were not he would be subject to it's laws which would make him less than God. The Bible refers to darkness as the absence of God and God as true light, both element and awareness.

Revelation 21
1Then I saw a new heaven and a new earth, for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. 2I saw the Holy City, the new Jerusalem, coming down out of heaven from God, prepared as a bride beautifully dressed for her husband. 3And I heard a loud voice from the throne saying, "Now the dwelling of God is with men, and he will live with them.
~
22I did not see a temple in the city, because the Lord God Almighty and the Lamb are its temple. 23The city does not need the sun or the moon to shine on it, for the glory of God gives it light, and the Lamb is its lamp.

The theory states that light is just an absence of dark and that darkness, not light is the fundamental radiative transport mechanism of the universe.
Just google dark sucker theory there is lots of info on it.

I think some one's playing with your head. It ultimately comes down to semantics. If you want to define "nothing" as a world filled up to the Planck level with light, and then describe all these processes for paring it down, that'll work fine. As long as the governing equations of physics are mathematically equivalent, it doesn't make any difference. It's also possible to recast thermodynamics so that "cold" moves from low temperature to high, rather than "heat" doing the opposite, as is conventionally done.

Scam!!! If the "dark sucker theory" was right, then all the stars would have gone out because they would have sucked all the darkness from the universe!

Maybe that's why they call it dark "sucker"...

No offence, really, its ok to question, but did you read their arguments? I had never heard of it, so I had to google it to believe it (believe it was wrong, that is...) Thanks for the laugh!
