Yes, your speed gets slower the farther away you are, assuming direct line-of-sight to the router. Link speed stays the same, but the SNR (Signal to Noise Ratio) increases as you move away. Other WiFi communications that could be picked up by the router may be considered traffic as well, and the router has to wait before listening for your pc's signal again. The next thing that factors in are how many wireless clients use the channel.
Other bad things that block/disperse a signal:
metal ductwork inside a wall
leafy trees (may be OK in winter) / dense conifers
wet leafy trees (worst)

-best luck

Yes, the farther you are, the weaker the signal is. You can check this by walking away from your router and clicking on your wireless icon on your taskbar, you will see your signal strength decrease and your speed

It will send information at the same speed, but less signal means greater chance of interruption or interference, so it might seem like it is slowing down. The signal itself though is still as fast.

If you need to be in a place where the signal is weak, you can get a signal booster that will expand your range. Otherwise, just stay a bit closer to the base station.

The further away you get...the weaker the signal. In turn results in slower/poorer connectivity.
