I am having a heck of a time identifing his rolex. It looks an awful lot like the pictures I have seen of an air king, but it does not say it on the face. It is not a datejust, as the face does not display the date. I also am having a hard time finding the seriel number. I have heard it is between the lugs on the back. Cannot find it there, however I do see a 5 digit number stamped on the wristband in a couple of places. And, the crystal is scratched, and I am wondering how much that may cost. From what I understand, he sent it to the Manhattan facility to be serviced every 4-5 years, and if I recall correctly, it was serviced very recently. All your help is greatly appreciated.

I have since found out that I have to remove the bracelet to see the serial number, which I have not done as of yet.

Take it to a jeweler or watch shop and have them use their powerful magnifying lenses to help you identify the make and model of the watch. Sometimes, the identifying marks are on the inside of the case, rather than on the back.

However, if there's no serial number between the lugs, it's probably not a genuine Rolex.

Take it to a jeweler just trying to open it can prove if its real...once inside they can identify it for you
