If you're under 18, you cannot register, or use their service, according to their terms of use:
"Any registration by, use of or access to the Site by anyone under 13, or by anyone who is under 18 and not in high school or college, is unauthorized, unlicensed and in violation of these Terms of Use. By using the Service or the Site, you represent and warrant that you are 13 or older and in high school or college, or else that you are 18 or older."
Technically there is nothing stopping you, but it is against their terms of use. I have just sent them an email about it, I'm under 18, working full time, I'm unable to register.
I think this situation is something they have failed to consider properly in their terms of use, as they have stated they have expanded to allow everyone to register.
Do what you think is right.

Yes. The restrictions have been lifted several months ago. You no longer need to be a student.

As long as you have an email addy... It is mostly college kids though... wait, we have alot of middle schoolers on yahoo answers, so I guess it doesn't matter. lol
