I've actually been thinking about this sort of thing a lot recently. It seems to me (in practice, not in theory) that I'm the only person prepared to listen to my enemy and try to resolve situations using their opinions as well as my own. Until the day it can be proven that I am right and they are wrong, I assume that we are both right, and there is no wrong.

I'm going to call upon a fictional plotline to back this up. I don't know whether you've ever played Halo 2, but the storyline is so relevant. There are 2 sides of an enormous conflict over a giant ring shaped planet (Halo) that obviously has a purpose. One side believe it is a weapon, and it should never be activated, and the other side believe it is a gateway to some sort of heaven, and so should be used straight away. The whole war is all a great big misunderstanding, while both sides could have been working together to establish what Halo was, exactly. There's so much hate going round, that no-one can get anything constructive done.

Can you see where the relevance is? It's always best to put differences aside and work together with your worst enemy. You never know when your life might depend on it.

Thought for the day: Another person's opinion is no more and no less valuable than your own. Every debate is healthy, while an argument isn't.

Accept it. Definitely. Why dismiss facts?

I think your question has more to do with a life style cause I can't even think why the fact I don't like somebody I would dismiss some commentary actually true.

Are you an adult?

Id accept it..even though i dont like the person..that doesnt mean they arent a smart person who can have good ideas and thoughts..thus id accept and possible try and see maybe they arent as dislikable as i thought. You still wouldnt have to like them..just see they have good ideas...because after all they are as human as you are..thus give them a chance.

It's a good idea to try to be nice to people you don't like..sometimes, when treated properly, people might change and become likeable. In any event, you do yourself no favours by not accepting facts, or by being unpleasant to anyone.

I'd have to think real hard, try to find any flaw in their statement, and if all else failed I'd accept it, but not acknowledge it to their face and I' wait for their next misstep and pounce.

If it was definitely true, it wouldn't matter to me who says it, I would accept it.
