I guess I have too many programs installed. How can I have certain programs installed on one user and not on the others. I cannot upgrade the RAM so please give me some other ideas. I need it to startup quickly.

You just need to manage your startup programs and processes. Here is how:

1. Open your Start menu.
2. Click Run
3. In the command screen type "msconfig.exe"
4. In the "system configuration utility",
click either "service" or "startup" tab
5. Uncheck all programs that your are no longer using.
6. Click "OK"

The site below gives a list of programs you dont need to have loaded during the startup process. Also check out the other speed tips.

If your only problem is a slow start-up then you can speed it up by reducing the number of programs that start-up along with windows when you start your laptop. By reducing such programs your start-up time can improve immensely. To do so go to the run in start menu and type "msconfig" without quotes. Then click on Startup tab, now click on Disable All and then apply this setting. Windows will ask you to reboot, do so. You should see a considerable increase in your start-up speed.
