Uhm, the target for the most part has changed, LGBT people aren't vilified as much anymore, the new target is fat people, they're harassed like there's no tomorrow.
So if there were no gay people, they'd all pick on fat people, or black people, or any other minority.
They don't really hate gay people, they have low self esteem, and need to pick on someone to feel better.
Anti-gays are bullies, plain and simple. If it wasn't gay people, it'd be another minority.
Without gays and lesbians you'd just miss out on the acceptance and diversity we offer, and the target just shifts.
It's the nature of people, at least in the USA it seems.

We would not be any better off at all, in fact we would suffer a great loss i think, i know i would personally as id no longer have so many good and decent friends, no more will and grace that has me in absolute hysterics, and the fashion industries would suffer greatly too so again we in turn would suffer, i dont know where people would go next but they'd find something, people will always attack what they do not understand, or what they do not agree with, but i say to you again they are the ones that have the problem.

They would likely end up attacking themselves as they strolled around with un-chic clothing and hair with no stylish grooming.
Their homes will be furnished with no sense of decor nor colour scheme.
They will receive service in restaurants from rude and sloppy waiters.
Department store windows will be boarded up because of the lack of decorators.
There would be a serious shortage of nurses.
Catholic Seminaries would become sexless and boring.
There would be no more decent rainbows.
Churches would close because they could no longer give sermons from the book of Leviticus.
There would be a severe shortage of food because of overpopulation from excessive breeders.
'The View' would become dull and boring again.
Bareback Mountain would be only used by Girl Guide camps.
Las Vegas extravaganzas would be all female dancers.
Ballet would become extinct as there would be no-one to lift the ballerina.
Navies all over the world would have severe shortages of recruits.
There would be a shortage of male Teachers in our schools. (except in woodworking and mechanics.)
Wrestling and Men's Figure Skating would have to be dropped from the Olympics because of the lack of participants.
All locks will be removed from closet doors.
The 'Perfect Family sit-coms' will make a come-back on TV.
Steam baths will become steam baths again.
Run down poor neighborhoods will be destined to remain that way.
The Ceiling in the Sistine Chapel in the Vatican, will be painted over.
And the worst thing of all, is that my recent marriage would be annulled.

You're mistaken in your "without one you couldn't have the other" statements. One doesn't need its opposite to exist. It's simply by having the existence of a contrast that one becomes more aware of a things existence. Water is still wet even if there is no dry to compare it to. It might be referred to as something other than wet, if that were the case, but its composition would remain the same.

i think this may help in your "case studies" (it was a discussion between him and his professor):
"Actually, sir, cold does not exist. according to the studies in physics cold is the total and complete absence of heat. An object can only be studied if it has and transmits energy and it is the heat of an object that transmits it's energy. Without heat the objects are inert, incapable to react. but cold does not exist. we created the term cold to explain the lack of heat,"
"And darkness," continues the student
"It exists," replied the professor
"Again, you're wrong sir, darkness is the total absence of light; you can study light and brightness, but not darkness. The prism of Nichols shows the variety of different colors in which the light can be decomposed according to the longitude of the waves; darkness is the term we created to explain the total absence of light."
