I fixed a microphone into my computer, but when i try to record sound it doesn't record.?

i checked that the microphone is not on mute and everything but still it doesn't work properly

follow the links to the guides that you need - I hope you find something that is useful to you.
If you are using Windows Vista, I believe there is a bug that affect microphones, so that may be worth investigating..

Is you line in turned on and audio level up in your volume control panel?
