i'm always sarcastic but i think with a carefully chosen word format, it translates ok into into words.
some people are just slow and never pick up on it. then they think you're being rude and give you thumbs down!!
but to answer your question i do make an effort not to sound rude, because i don't have a rude nature. i try to keep things positive unless someone really ticks me off. it's quite lame being rude to someone online because we don't even know each other. can't we all just get along!

It's one of the problems with the "forum". We get so many of our "clues" in conversations from body language, tone and facial expressions, that it's easy to sound really mean with the written word.
I've gone so far as to put (*sarcasm*) next to something that just sounds mean, when I'm trying to just be a smart alec.
I care what people think, in that I don't want to hurt someone unintentionally. Intentionally, however, is a whole different discussion.

since only the most intelligent humans on the planet hang out on P&S all day (because they're so smart they have a lot of free time), I don't think you need to worry about whether or not people will understand your sarcasm.

It depends on the question, if a particular question is worded to offend a particular person, or group of people, then I return fire with offensive answers, but for the most part I remain composed, thus utilize humor when ever applicable:)

People who know me know my sense of humor. It's tough on here because I sometimes rein in my fingers and don't say what I want to say for fear it will be misconstrued. I know the anonymity affords certain benefits, but there is so much dissent in the world, I don't want to be adding to it. Am I a wimp?

The only people I am sarcastic with are those who know me and know my brand of humor, or if the question begs for it. There is a difference between being sarcastic and being funny, and I try to respond in kind.

I never make rude comments. I don't have to. I get reported for using civilized and non-abusive language.
