I'm about to phone someone with this first name, I really cannot pronounce it. It's vital i don't get it wrong, does anybody know.

If the person is from the Netherlands, the name would be pronounced like "Mart-ye". The problem is that they may have Americanized the name and pronounce it like Marty, and you probably have no way of knowing that.

I'm not sure but it sounds like it would be pronounced like Margie.....but I'm not sure...but I'm pretty sure this person wouldn't mind if you mispronounce his/her name... I'm pretty sure it has happened to him/her plenty of times...he/she would understand that the might be a little difficult to pronounce ..so don't worry you'll be fine...Good luck with that anyway :)

well...if you ask me i would say it is pronounce like
Mart-g...just say Mart then say the letter G....
