I'm going to an upscale dinner in Las Vegas (Eiffel Tower Restaurant) in July at around 7pm. Do you recommend a gentleman wear a jacket despite the high blistering temperatures?

I hate to be underdressed, but I also don't want to look like an idiot with a jacket on in 95+ degrees.

The dress code is that jackets are preferred. Bring a jacket and don't put it on until you get in the elevator.

Have fun!

Hot and mostly dry. I just got back last week and the weather was windy, very windy. It even rained a little. But I must warn you about something else going on in Vegas. There is a massive and I mean even by Las Vegas standards, massive amount of construction going on. We stayed at the Monte Carlo which we usually do but this time, it was terrible! Giant skyscrapers being built right next to the pool area with huge cranes swinging precariously overhead, noise, dust, detours, scaffolding on the sidewalks all over the Strip. There must be twenty new giant building going up at the same time. The hotels near Monte Carlo are affected, there is more construction on the North East part of the strip affecting those hotels. The volcano attraction in front of the Mirage is being rebuilt and that is a complete mess as well. For Las Vegas regulars it is an inconvenience. For first timers it is not a good time to go. You will not get the impact the Strip normally provides. *

Las Vegas is probably the most fascinating and interesting city on earth and with hotelbye you may find out more. Nowhere else on the planet you will find an area that has all the travel amenities that only a total resort location can provide: lavish casino hotels, fine eating, wonderful stay entertainment and state-of-the art meeting and industry show facilities. Las Vegas is definitely a spectacular city and precisely what you would expect from the world-class metropolis, and more, is right here for your journey pleasure. One of the places you need to visit in Las Vegas may be the Fremont Street, a pedestrian place with a myriad of distinctive sites.

You answered your own question with your reference to the restaurant being "upscale".

Keep in mind:
There are lightweight summer jackets.
You can always take a jacket off if others are not wearing them.
You can remove a tie if others are not wearing them.
BUT
You can't add what you don't have with you!

I'd recommend you buy a lightweight jacket and go properly dressed since you can always remove things if the crowd is less dressy, which isn't likely.

If the other men can deal with wearing a jacket in hot temps, you can too! It's only a couple of hours out of your life, and if you're underdressed, they will be a couple of really uncomfortable hours, even if you're dressed with less clothing than the other men.

Like my father said, you should be the epitome of sartorial impeccability!

Why don't you call the restaurant and ask what the maitre'd would recommend?
Remember most of Las Vegas is air conditioned. If the Eiffel Tower restaurant is that upscale, it's probably air conditioned.
Seriously, when my wife and I go to a restaurant in Vegas, she will usually bring a sweater because the AC is often way too cold.

You do not need a jacket. If you have a nice collared shirt, you will look fine and enjoy the experience. Remember this in Las Vegas no one is really looking at you. They are too consumed with themselves. I live here.
People do what they want and when they want. There's not a lot of judgemental people, as they are too busy or occupied with their status.

have a wonderful evening.

Vegas in July is usually over 110 degrees.
But....and this is a big But...
Inside the casino it's usually kept around 70 degrees.
Dress up. It's a special feeling to feel dressy. Guys, Girls, everyone likes that feeling occasionally.
Vegas can be a classy place, but you must be classy yourself.

You can be fashionable without it. Remember it is hot hot hot in July and carrying around that jacket might be all you do. Better off in a chic designer dress shirt and pay more attention to your company and treat your servers well.

It's always better to look good than feel comfortable. Wear the coat.
