Is 300 Billion $$$$ too much?

I know that "Nation Building" in the Middle East is important to Republicans and Muslims, but can't we do some nation building here in America too? Or would that make the National Debt too large?

I also wonder if we had spent 300 Billion on research and development into alternative fuels or mass transportation we would have been batter off?

Chump change.Nation building is a grand idea.. Something that may be grander or , at the very least, more lasting, is national maintenance, Fixing, rejuvenating, renovating, and enhancing what we have, Stable fuels program, health care for all, infastucture maintenance: there are many ideas out there that would make life a lot easier. In some cases a coat of paint is all it takes. But you can't do it all .You can't be a conqueror and a builder.One job at a time..

I wonder how a war can be won when people say it's un-winable, then they complain about the budget for the war and they want to cut that also. Are you not setting up for failure at this point?
Would it be practical for any business to set a goal and then expect to reach it by cutting staff and cutting the budget as well as letting people with no experience set the rules of how things are to be done? How can people without military experience make rules to run a war? The military is a business and they need people, money and resources to complete their job.

You want to see the military out of Iraq, then give them the money and resources they need to rebuild, train the Iraq military, kick their government in the but and we can get moving. I agree it would be nice to get out, and the Iraq Government needs to take charge. However, don't stop funding because it has become "unpopular".

Would $300 billion served America as well, of course. However we are committed to this military action, we can't just "cut our losses" and be done. Remember, Bush is not the 1st President of the United States, so there are several before him that could have or should have looked at spending money on other things to benefit us as Americans.

Don't know if you have noticed but the government takes trillions from the working man (rich and poor) and nation builds right here in the good old US of A.

Have you even a clue how our national budget is divided up. Did you know that we spend a small fraction of the budget on our military and social programs is over 60% of the budget.Did you know that we have doubled what we spend on social program in the last decade and defense spending has gone down.

There it is! Right here on this page we have the beginnings of our new government. Everyone here has got all the right answers. You guys have gotta run for office right away and save our country. While you're cutting out war funding, cut out billions spent on welfare and social security cheats, and all the rest of the entitlement programs.
