All the above are great suggestions. I was also going to suggest petunias. They are really quite fragrant. Here's another--old fashioned 4 o'clocks. They grow to about 2 1/2 to 3' tall, are very easy to start from seed and come in many colors including very pretty bicolors. Also the seeds are easy to save for next year--just collect them once they turn hard and black. For early spring color and fragrance try planting some hyacinth bulbs this fall. Good luck!

It all depends on if it is sun/shade, dry shade or wet/damp shade.

For full sun plant lavender,roses,etc

shade some hostas smell nice(the flowering part)

do a google search to find out which plants will do best with your situation.

Roses of course are always nice but take quite a bit of care. We found an old garden rose that takes less up keep. And believe it or not..petunias give off a wonderful smell. Wave varieties in hanging pots and cascading petunias in the beds will smell wonderful, and hummingbirds and butterflies like them.

It depends on what zone you live in and how much sun or shade you have ... but gardenias smell wonderful and are beautiful to look at, too. These plants with fragrant flowers do best in full sun with high humidity and moist soil.

Moonflowers (Datura) is a definate must. They smell so so good. Also, honeysuckle but don't but to close because it may attract more bees than you would like. Also Carolina jasmine smells realy great. And don't forget roses.

Jasmine it good if you like vines. You'll have to run them on something like a trellis but you will love the aroma. I have found that Confederate jasmine is the best and is the most fragrant.
