He says that finding Osama is not so much of an issue Now. While it SEEMS we have Already accomplished our mission in IRAQ. (I understood the mission there to be getting rid of WMD's and Saddam) Mission Accomplished!
Shouldn't we leave Iraq and maybe go to afghanistan to get Osama?
I do not understand why Osama is (according to Bush) No Longer an issue.
Does anyone Know why he says Osama is no longer an issue ?

Question is Not about whether he is dead or not. WHY is finding Osama no longer an issue when that was our original mission?

It can hardly be an issue of the amount of troops to find OSAMA or the COST
As can be seen by our present situation in the occupation of IRAQ. We Certainly accomplished our purported Mission there. Could it be that it is no longer popular to actually bring Osama to trial? Sorry it makes Absolutely no sense to me!

I think it is Bush's way of admitting defeat (by Osama). I also think he is trying to divert those of us who thought the "war on terror" was launched to capture or kill Osama.

I think there is a good chance that Osama Bin Laden is dead or dying. There have been no recent photos or tapes showing him, just voice recording and I dont think those are very recent.
It's possible our government knows he is dead or incapacitated. Probably not from our weapons but he was very ill with kidney failure at the beginning of this war. His time spent on the run and living in caves etc, and only being on portable dialysis is probably taking it's toll.
The again it appears that as soon as Osama was more or less out of the picture, another took over anyhow. Appears there are many heads to this snake so we will be cutting off those heads for a long time.

In October 2006, Bush said it wouldn't be worthwhile to send 100,000 men tromping all over the mountains of Pakistan to find Osama. He also said that Pakistan was a sovereign nation and it would have to ASK the US to send troops there!
This is one story on it, and there was another, but I can't locate it now. It was a Fox News interview with Fred Barnes, editor of the conservative "Weekly Standard". Barnes discussed his meeting with Bush the day before:
"BARNES: Well, he [Bush] said, look, you can send 100,000 special forces, that’s the figure he used, to the mountains of Pakistan and Afghanistan and hunt him down, but he just said that’s not a top priority use of American resources. His vision of a war on terror is one that involves intelligence to find out from people, to get tips, to follow them up and break up plots to kill Americans "

Bush is all but admitting he has FAILED to bring to justice the man who admitted responsibility for the attacks on September 11. The man FAILED to heed the warnings of his own Intelligence Community prior to the attacks, He FAILED to prevent the attacks on Sept 11, He FAILED to capture the man responsible, he FAILED to even FIND the man, he FAILED to keep the country in the Green, preferring instead to run up a historic $10 Trillion National debt, he FAILED to find the WMDs he told us were in Iraq, he FAILED to finish the job in Afghanistan (The Taliban are STILL in Afghanistan and in charge of a sizeable portion of the country), he has FAILED to safeguard the lives of 3,500 kids who went to war for ridiculous reasons in Iraq, he has FAILED to use the sympathy and goodwill we got from the attacks on Sept 11, preferring instead to throw away all that goodwill and turn the US into the most hated country in the world, he has FAILED to safeguard both the guiding principles of the US Constitution and the Bill of Rights, he has FAILED to keep less advantaged persons from getting gouged at the gas pump, he has FAILED in every conceivable way to do the job he was hired to do.

Since he failed to find Osama, after all his bluster about "wanted dead or alive", he has to pretend that it wasn't so important anyway. He's trying to save face.
