I've only seen one review, and that was from a critic who didn't like the first two.
How does this latest episode in the series compare?

It's good like the first one (so not as much a filler movie feel as the second one). Definitely worth seeing. I expected a good pirate movie, and I saw a good pirate movie. And I'll see it again a few times...

I heard Mark Kermode's review (he thought it was too long and had too many plots) and thought that's just his opinion. After watching the movie though I agree with his review!
There are so many different plots that you become confused. Your bum gets numb too as things that you don't really care about are dragged out. I also didn't find it as funny as the others (I laughed only 4 or 5 times in over 160 mins). Not even ten Captain Jack Sparrow could undo the bad stuff!
Now I am a Pirates fan. I absolutely loved the first Pirates, and I was counting the days down until this one came out. I feel like Disney thought it doesn't matter if we have a rubbish storyline the graphics will make up for it and we can make lots of money!
If they bring out a fourth I will wait for the DVD.

This movie is the worth cash.
It is the first POTC with humor.
Jack is outstandingly funny.
Great storyline to it.
I also believe it will have a great chance to break bhox offfice records this weekend.
Go see it, it's great, before all the secrets get out about the movie.
Plus if anyone was wondering if there is going to be another Pirates, I saw an interview with Orlando Bloom and he said that all the actors are willing to give another shot at another movie and he said that he 65% sure that there will be another movie.

OMFG! The best movie I've seen in years! Beautiful film work, and great acting! It's filled with suspense, drama, romance, action and a bit of gore, but not too much! And it isn't all that sad. Well, ya it is, but you'll luv the ending! It was definitely better than the first two! it was better than any other movie I've seen in a long time!Screw those haters, because trust me, when everyones talking about it, this is one bubble you want to be a part of! Trust me you'll love it! Go see it NOW!

Saw it last night. Some scenes are great but I wish they had traded a special effect or two for a coherent story.
There were too many things that people were trying to get - and always a let down when they got it. It was as if they tried to put a little of everything in there instead of really getting things right.

I've seen 1 and 2, and am looking forward to see 3. I liked what I've watched in 1 and 2 and hope 3 is as good.

i think its the weakest of the three and a little bit too long but it has all the charateristics of all the other films that we loved. its still worth going to see but try and get a screening with an intermission or avoid the large sodas. great fight scenes and special effects and very funny in parts. also keira knightley is yummy and plenty for the ladies too. enough johnny depp to go round and orlando bloom.

I watched it just yesterday .. its pretty good not much dialogue alot of action and guess what? Jack Sparrow is back for more action and fun =P although yes there are some touching as well as sad parts .. the William has died , his heart was taken out and Elizabeth has to protect it or something .. Elizabeth also became the Leader of the leader pirates .. anyways its a very nice show I will rate it 5*

Absolutely worth it! a bit too long though that is the only negative thing. It is missing humor as it was in PoC the original. I have a feeling PofC4 wil be filmed soon. Orlando and Keira wont be in it. We need new blood! And we must see Jack and Jack's dad finish their stuff.

forget the critics, they just have to complain about everything.
This movie was totally awesome!!!!
It is totally worth it - go see it right now!!!! ;O)
and do NOT leave until you've seen the final scene after the credits - it is not a stupid scene like the ones after the first 2 movies, this one actually makes sense.
As for the movie itself, it will make you laugh, make you cry, have you on the edge of your seat .... the score is amazing, I actually got goosebumps watching this movie.
Totally brilliant. Much better than the second film and almost as good as the first - Captain Jack is back in fine form, much more like himself in the first movie than he was in the second, and more insane than ever ...
Geoffry Rush is once again awesome as Barbossa, and even Elizabeth, whom I despised after what she did to Jack at the end of the second movie, has redeemed herself and made me like her again.
Will ... well, that's the sad bit. I won't spoil it for you, you have to go see it. But the good news is he's more "piraty" and is better-looking than ever, especially at the end .... just another bonus ;o)
The special effects, once again, are awesome - they keep getting better in each movie. some amazing stuff.
Of course the "plot" is twisted, murky, and confusing, and my brain still hurts from trying to figure everything out - but that's part of the fun of these movies, in my opinion. That's part of their charm - they never pretend to be serious or real, they are just pure entertainment of the highest movie-making quality.
This is the most awesome, mind-blowing, and fun movie of the year - do not miss it.
