I am 24 years old, and have lived in Los Angeles my entire life (in the Valley). For the whole time I have been surrounded by real-life 90210-ers and MTV's Laguna Beach types. Based on your experiences, which city/state has the overall "nicest" or most genuine people?

I think you find nice people everywhere, but to find real, genuine, down to earth people you need to come to West Virginia, very few pretentious people here. Most are salt of the earth people who would do anything for anyone.

I grew up in the Midwest - Wisconsin in particular - and I would have to say that Madison, WI is full of friendly, genuine people. Perhaps I'm a bit partial...;) I've been out to LA, and have family there. I can definitely tell a difference!

I understand how lives are in LA ~ I lived there for 5 yrs. My personal opinion, people frm the mid-west are much friendlier and nicer. They have more patience. I've been to Missouri & Indianapolis, the life pace is slower but the friendliness and appreciation can be seen from their faces.

Well everyplace has their jerks and their genuines, so that's one thing every city has in common. But in terms of overall "niceness," I think San Francisco has it. Here there are people of all sorts of races, religions, classes, styles and preferences. Not to say that we are without our crazies, but I think the environment is a pretty good one. Hope it helps. ^_^

I think NYC has a mixed bag of the nicest people in the states. Go there...see for yourself! But then again, there are nice people everywhere, it's just that I found that city of people pretty friendly.

hmmmm I would say a more rural setting is what you need.
Try Montana or Missouri. I found people there to be very nice in the smaller towns.
Maybe try Canada. We are nice.

I've only met one person from Wyoming, but she was really nice and genuine, so Wyoming gets my vote.

There are nice, genuine people everywhere. (Well, there are jerks everywhere, too!) My vote is here in NC, but I am certainly biased!
