I think in general, people are taking better care of themselves and that is the reason why they are living longer. I bet if you ask many of them, they think that it is an advantage living longer.
Politically, many people have a problem with it because they are on the Social Security rolls longer. To them I say get over it. Who are they to play God? My grandmother was alive until the age of 95 and had her wits about her to the end. Her husband (my grandfather) passed away at 68 and barely drew any Social Security, so the way I look at it, she probably drew hers and his---- Why is it no one says a word about those poor souls that worked for years paying in to Social Security system and die just after retirement or worse yet BEFORE! That would make me mad if I kicked off right when I was able to draw MY money!!
The thing that makes me mad is that some people are willing to moan and complain about grandma or grandpa being on the rolls to long but support giving benefits to illegal aliens. We need to take care of our own first.

From the perspective of the long-lived individual, yes. But it's playing hell with the world we live in - too many people using too many resources over an ever increasing lifespan is a recipe for disaster.

Are you suggesting we have a choice and can maybe put an upper limit on how long people live? For those people who live to a great age in good health and with dignity it must be a good thing. For those in poor health , maybe not.

Eh, I don't know. If the quality of life were increasing, then I'd say sure. Unfortunately, many of these people who are living to 90 just didn't prepare for their extended retirement. But what can we do? Shoot old people into the sun?

No because they do not have the funds needed to care for themselves.
This shows the need to have private social security accounts that get a real rate of return.

there is really no morally correct way to answer.we cause a drain on the already tapped out social security program and we also be come more of a burden on the people that are left to take care of us while they are wiping our butts because we can no longer do so
