I am a domestic violence counselor and have had the misfortune of meeting a lot of deadbeat parents. I have discovered that many of them have no conscience, while most of the remaining do not see it as their responsibility to support a child they no longer live with. No, there is not reason to their insane or selfish thinking.

As for the few people I have known in friendship/personal relationships that do not support their children. I do not associate with them. I cannot be friends with someone that does not care enough about their own children to provide them with love, guidance and financial support. I have seen the damage a deadbeat parent does to their children, ex's and society. I cannot see the benefit of their friendship, other then teaching me tolerance for something that shouldn't be tolerated. That's just me, though.

They are selfish and do not deserve the same rights as the rest of us. There are so many people that would give anything to be a parents in all the ways that matter. It makes me anger when I see deadbeats.
