There is no problem with using short excerpts of another person's work, provided you quote the source. If you don't quote the source, you can be in trouble for "plagiarism," which means passing off another person's work as your own.

I think that falls under the concept of "fair use" http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fair_use , so you will not be in violation of any laws.
