I've been finding it very hard to sleep for the last week or so, I'm not doing anything different lately, and it's not depression, it's more like my mind can't stop ticking and I've just been going and going and going. Is there something in astrology that can explain this, or is it just an off me lately?

I'm very glad you brought this topic up, because there is, indeed, an astrological reason for your sleeplessness.
At this very moment transiting Saturn in Leo, the planet of retrictions, is directly opposite Neptune in Aquarius, the planet which relates to sleep. So this problem of sleeplessness would be affecting a large number of people.
Since the signs affected are fixed signs (Leo and Aquarius), I doubt it is your Libra Sun that is being impacted. If you have had your chart done, check to see if you have any planets or angles (ascendant/midheaven) at around 19 degrees Leo/Aquarius/Scorpio/Taurus. These would be the points in your chart receiving the Saturn/Neptune influence.
On a personal note, I actually have Saturn at 19 degrees Aquarius, so I have been getting a double whammy of Saturn on top of Neptune. For the past couple of months, I've been struggling to get more than 4 hours sleep each night. (I'm writing this at 3.00 in the morning, and I could still go on for hours). It's like I've forgotten how to sleep!!
Luckily, the influence is fading, and will be gone within a few weeks.

I would have a difficult time "explaining" astrology by any scientific means, as it is more of a personal belief system than a theory that makes predictions. However, astrological predictions based upon the position of moon and stars at the time of birth and subsequently throughout one's life, could then have some invitation of credence. Given that massive bodies affect the space time curvature, all incident EM fields would be "lensed" through these gravitational pertubations. Thus, the EM fields incident upon all the body/spirit on the other side of the lens would have changed, albeit infinitesimally. As gravity is an inverse cube strength "field" with respect to distance, the moon easily overpowers all other heavenly bodies in effect. Since the moon also has a gravitational field in much closer proximity to Earth, the Electromagentic lensing effect also overpowers the tiny effect of distant stars. Sol, our sun, is also without question, the most important body in terms of EM fields. Trying to scientifically explain Astrology as either the residual gravitational effect or by virtue of the EM fields of the planets and stars is not possible due to the enormous distance between Earth and those sources, especially as compared to the Moon.

well, looks like you have a problem...not mental but something's going on in your life.. as libra, you hate it when things go "off balence"... you want harmony and (since you're the least selfish sign) you can flex, sometimes too much in order to have it. that's where your justice part comes in.. libras want justice along with harmony and that's when they are undecisive... you want to please EVERYONE, yet you also know what's right.. and that's why your mind just keeps "going and going and going" as you said because you don't know what to do...
advice from a fixed sign :D: sometimes you have to save your own butt. someone will always get hurt, so if you must choose, why should it be you? i know it hurts sometimes when you have to do what you believe in, when you feel like you're letting people down. believe me, i've been in these situations, but you have to do what you feel is right... especially when you have OPPOSITION. otherwise, you'll never know where you'll get sweapt off to, and when this happens, you'll regret it.

Mars is currently in ARIES. Aries is the opposite of Libra.
Mars is all about energy, temper, sexuality, etc.
Mars opposing your Sun right now, your energy is amplified, and scattered. Your temper is also bound to be wicked and short. This lasts a week or so.

Where is the rest of your birth data? itis impossible to figure out what planet is turning your mind on. I am betting it is Uranus. It is 15 deg in Pisces. Check with your 3rd house, 3rd house ruler, any natal and transiting planets in 3rd, and natural rulers of thoughts Jupiter and Mercury. you will get your answer
