War. The word our country, our nation is revolving around. War on terror, War on Poverty, War on Illegal Immigration... War on Drugs.

This war on drugs is self-compounding. If the drug trade was regulated, you end the violence and corruption that the current market breeds. By declaring war, we create massive amounts of violence... and the battleground is on our streets.... lets face it, the users arent the ones who are out shooting each other... its the dealers.. stealing each others business. Civilian casualties by the dozen. Lets end this injustice and invasion of freedom by diplomatically CONTROLLING it. Prohibition is the most Victorian way of dealing with something. In this day and age, we must realize that we must control this situation by regulation and taxation. Put those billions of dollars into our childerens schools, rather than putting them in harms way.
eliminate the massive drug wars in mexico, make the business regulated also potentially cut down on illegal immigratio

I totally agree. I have been writing here on Yahoo Answers that the legalization or control of the drug use is one of the most important things we could do as a nation.
We had similar problems when the federal dry laws against alcohol use were in effect.
If we were to legalize the use of drugs, we would immediately see a reduction in crime, costs of the legal system and police corruption, etc.

right... there already are "legal" drugs and guess what people are still getting addicted and dying from them.

1. Oxycontin.
2. Vicodin
3. A whole variety of inhalants
4. Percocet

these are just a few. And I already know your response well what about tobacco it is addictive and it kills...blah blah blah... you go try to overdose on a cigarette or better yet go wait in your house until your addicted buddy comes to steal your tv for a Marlboro. Not going to happen is it.

OR maybe you just want marijuana legalized... great that might not lead to other drug use by teens. Oh they do claim that it is not a "gateway" drug and I agree. BUT it is a gateway into the drug culture that will introduce people to other drug users who will influence them into using others.

anyway give me the thumb down if you want to. I dont care. go get high and ruin your life. you will just take yourself out of the running for the good job that i want.

War on drugs is a way to keep the drugs profitable for both the dealers and the police (many of whom are also dealers).

Legalize drugs (decriminalize drugs) for adults and the profitability would drop. Yes, some would coke themselves to death. And that would be a more profound eduction to the surviving young people to avoid disaster.

Drugs is just another excuse government has to break your door down at 3 AM in the morning.

I agree. is smart. Small and helpful decrease. Obama is already liberating illegals in ICE custody as part of the decrease. So, he will end the conflict on unlawful immigration and white flag it? yet, nevertheless needs the conflict on drugs?

Apprehend all dealers and prohibit the use so that the business on illegal drugs will have a natural death. It will fade away if there are no drug lords and users.

The government has no place to regulate or tax something that we can grow/make on our own. Also, the astronomical amount of money they WASTE on the "War on Drugs," alone, could go to something useful.

Drugs are only illegal so the government can have a monoply on their trade.
