Money. Politicians in the US want to get elected or re-elected. They have to raise funds for campaigns. So they end up pandering to the people with money.

The greatest source of power is keeping the people uneducated. People with little or no education are easy to lead. People with little education lack the ability to reason,to think for themselves. They are easy to convince on any subject. I.E.. the war cry of the administration " support the troops". It seems that the only way you can support the troops is to send more of them to die in Iraq!! Money runs a very close second. Our public offices are bought. $100,000,000 to buy an office paying $425,000 a year for four years. ????????????? Another source of power is EGO...

there are interest groups that put there point of view to pm and politiican basicaly we have 10 million votes that will vote this way if we say now you do what we want they will vote for you. then you got ppl that pay off mp to do there bidding ( cash for honours etc , then you have trade unions which is a mixture of the two there are plenty of different ways to control politics one other way is put your people in the main party to follow your orders
