Do you believe in the Trinity?

I believe in "Oneness". I got thrown out of a Bible study 2 years ago because I said that God isn't "three persons" This guy brought up 1 John 5:7-8 to 'prove' the Trinity. This is how it reads in the KJV:

5:7 "For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one. 5:8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one."

This is it in the New American Standard Bible (almost every modern english translation does not include the "trinity" statement)

1 John

5:7
For there are three that testify:

5:8
the Spirit and the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement.

The Trinity is a dangerous doctrine to believe because it doesn't make sense even pastors say they can't explain it and tell you to just 'accept it'. So now instead of people using critical thinking skills they are being misled into all kinds of false teaching

Please search the truth out and study the Bible carefully, using critical thinking skills when you read it.

That clause was added to the 'textus receptus' but was never in the originals or older manuscripts

I always believed that they were one. I don't know why, I just believed it. But after studying, taking courses, and asking questions i've come to believe that they are three seperate entities, yet all from the same being (god). Still, father, son and holy spirit are individuals. Even the holy spirit (who i thought was a spirit) is a pysical being.

I believe there is One God. I believe He is the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

I believe.

I do not have to tear books apart to know this every day.

I understand that I do not understand.

I understand that the concept is that of the Eternal, not creatures whose life spans are dust in the wind.

Sometimes, hon, you just stand on Faith.

So the trinity doesn't make sense to you eh Einstein !

Okay, well when you have all of the answers to the origins of the universe , how it all came together in such a way as to support life on little old planet earth , how man came about etc etc .....then we'll worry about the finer details !

Until then , I'm just as happy to trust God & his word , accept his version of creation & you can make up your own mind !

I believe in oneness as well.

The word trinity isn't even in the Bible...Jesus said, "I and my father are ONE," how much clearer can you get? John 10:30

No I don't. Muslims don't go there. Even as a Catholic I did not get it and to be honest I did not care.

I was told, accept and believe. I never "got" it. Yet when I was pagan I "got" the triple goddess, maiden, mother, crone. That is different.

This is one reason Islam appealed to me. There are answers to almost anything. But some things, like this, they don't do because of different takes on what is believed and what is not believed.

I believe in the trinity (Maiden, Mother and Crone) and more. In my beliefs, what could be called God is like a diamond, with many, many facets. As no human can comprehend the wholeness of God, we recognize the facets we do comprehend. All of these facets are the Christian God, the Hebrew God, Allah, the Horned God, the Goddess and any names of gods and goddesses in any mythology. All are part of the One.
