If there's a crack in your tub, why, for heavens sake wouldn't you think it's leaking? Why would you "lol" about a serious thing like this?
And, yes, your going to eventually have your tub, in the downstairs tub if not repaired.
The insurance isn't going to fix an everyday, common repair problem you have. This is common maintenance. Call a plumber.

There are a number of things you can do yourself if you want. Go to Home Depot and get the "tub repair kit" for $35.00 but, it takes a lot of work and some expertise to refinish a tub.
Call a plumber, he'll more then likely replace the tub. It's going to cost you for sure. You'll also have to have the ceiling checked to see if there was any structural damages from the water. Good luck.

I dont where you are located. In the Eastern USA it probably would cost at least hundred dollars.

You can do some investigation yourself.

1.Does the leaking liquid smell bad? This would be a clue as to whether the leaking fluid is leaking from the drain pipe or if it is leaking from the water supply
2. Go to your upstairs tub. Go to the end with the faucets. Are the faucets on a wall? If so what is on the other side of the wall? Is there some sort of removeable panel on the wall behind the faucets? Remove this panel and look inside. Fill the tub with water and leave water running and look inside. You should be able to see the source of the leak. Look around the faucet and below faucet is tub drain.
3. If the above does not work, you could cut an opening in the ceiling below to find the leak. It sounds like this ceiling probably needs to be replaced anyhow.

Depends on your area as to what the going rate is. In our area a service call is around 90.00. There are questions that need to be answered before proceeding. Does it leak all the time, or just when you use the bath? Or does it leak just when you use the shower? To determine a leak in the tub, fill the tub with water and let it sit for one hour. If no leak occurs, get in tub and walk around in it for 20 minutes. ( This will test for hair line cracks you can not see.) If still no leak, then tub is more than likely ok. When you let the tub go, and leak occurs, there is a leak in the drain. A plumber will need to re-create the problem. Once a leak shows through the cieling they will want to cut the cieling and see where the leak is coming from. Then they can tell you a cost for repair.

Go with a good company, you want to be sure they will be there in one year to cover thier warrenty. Also, your cieling is getting cut open, you can not fix what you can not see. The repair for the cieling will be up to you not the plumber.

Cut the ceiling yourself and save some bucks. If you can expose the leak, most plumbing companys will give you a free estimate if you ASK for it. Many others will at least deduct the service fee if you have the work done.

With my company, repair cost would range from 176.00 to 595.00 depending on what it wrong. ( Excluding tub replacement.)

Do not be upset with you insruance agent, most insurance companys only cover damge done and not plumbing repairs. And some policies have exclusions like only for water lines breaking or sump pump failure. Just Depends on the underwriting. Be glad for this. For example, to repair a 1/2 inch copper line in a wall, which caused a carpet to flood, is about 276.00 on overtime rate. ( depending on your area.) An extraction for carpet starts at around 3000.00

Go to the area below the bathroom and cut the drywall out.
It will have to come out anyway, so don't think you are creating any work.
Expose the under side of the bath and look for leaks when it's running.
This will only be of assistance for the insurance company.
You should still replace the tub even if it's just a surface crack( it will get worse)
