I hate seeing hard working people get sued over idiotic things. And even companies, like the hot coffee mcdonalds thing, and people who fall down in stores and sue for 100,000's of dollars. I think its disgusting, Some people are so greedy they want something for free.

I am not talking about people who have a valid case but I can't imagine why falling down in a supermarket could cause 150000 dollars of damage to anyone, there are lots of people who sue and sue again, just for the money.

I truely hope so. It's judicial abuse. The courts were set up to protect people and property, not for bored losers to use against other people just for the sake of it

While frivolous lawsuits should not be tolerated, there are certainly cases that are justified by a plaintiff suing. There are millions of "hard-working" companies that are the cause of injuries yet they feel that they are above those that have been injured or mistreated. (i.e. A man who has two children is injured on an offshore drilling rig. A 250 pound casing swedge hit him in the head, breaking his neck. He had been at this particular job for 5 years. He can no longer work at the mere age of 23. He does everything the company tells him and within two months his checks stopped coming and his insurance was canceled.) What would you suggest a man like this do, sit back and accept an apology knowing he will never be able to work again all while the company is still pulling in millions everyday? Just so you know this man was my husband and we lost our home, our vehicles and our dignity. We sued only after we tried to let the company honor their word. I am not disagreeing with you, however I do not think that people necessarily like suing anyone (we personally hated every minute of it), nor do I think that there is a special place in Hell for the man that suffered a broken neck on the account of the companies negligence. He merely wanted to be able to continue to support his family as he had done previously to his injury. He wanted nothing for free...all he wanted was what he would have earned had the company followed the guidelines for tag lining the movement of a casing swedge. For the record...no amount of money in the world will give our children their daddy back...nor will it bring back his pride of being able to provide for his family let along take a fraction of his pain away.

Suing must not be based on getting money but must only be initiated to get justice. The cause of action must be justice and not money.
