My GF loves the Sims 2, but it runs slowly. I already have a video card, which I am looking into upgrading.

I only have 512 mb of RAM, would buying more RAM make my game run faster?

yes ram is they key to speed! Your processor of coarse but even the fastest processor will run slow without some good ram.....go for the kingston hyperx or the crucial ballistix...its made for gaming

of course, increasing the capacity of your ram would mean more storage space for the programs running in your computer. this would make it easy for you cpu to access data it needs a lot faster. resulting in the overall increase in the performance of age of empire 3. you should also check if the speed of ram you will add has the same speed as the one you use. if they're not then you would be dealing with hardware problems in the future. ask help from an expert when installing the ram to make sure it will not hurt your pc. additional note: the speed of the ram is not the same to its capacity. 128mb, 256mb, 1gb, 2gb are examples of capacities. hope this helps. thanks!

Adding another 512mb RAM will improve your PC's overall performance but hardly the speed of the game because you have a slow video card. A better video card will improve gaming performance significantly.
CHEAP OPTION- 9600 Pro
NOT SO CHEAP OPTION- 7300GT AGP or 7600GS AGP

yeah what they said but to play decent games you should be at a minimum 2.4ghz Pentium/ 4200 AMD with 1052 Ram, and a minimum 128meg video card...

Sometimes its easier buying a new system
