I recently saw an episode of family guy... the episode where they were fleeing to Texas after Stewie is allegedly possessed by the devil.
Anyway, on the road a blonde in a convertible pulls up and flirts with Peter... then she is hit by a truck.. Lois then says something like "well thats what happens when you date billy joel" i dont remember exactly what she says... but... WHAT IS IT REFERRING TO? WHAT IS THE JOKE?

First, the blonde is Christie Brinkley.
If you watch National Lampoon's Vacation, there is a scene where Christie Brinkly's character is driving in the lane next to him in a sports car and flirting with him as his family sleeps. This is a take off on that movie scene, playing to the fact that Christie Brinkly and Billy Joel, known for his drinking and driving, used to be together. If you haven't seen this movie, it isn't nearly as funny.
