OK, hopefully someone will give me a simple answer to this question and I won't sound like too much of a rookie.

This is concerning a 1999 748S.

I was riding the other night and while switching from 1st to 2nd gear at about 6500 rpms my bright light went out. The bright light indicator still works as if I'm switching them on and off but nothing happens. The bright light itself is still dimmly lit.

This morning when I cranked it up and noticed my brake light is stuck on.

Can anyone explain this?

Thanks

The 2 light's problems may be unrelated.
I can give you some starting points to check.
Locate the F & R brake light switches.
With the key on, disconnect them one at a time. If only one switch makes a difference, then that switch is the problem. If neither makes a difference, then you have some electrical trouble shooting to do. I don't have a wiring diagram for your bike so I can't help.
The head light could be -
The bulb is burnt out.
It's not making a good connection in the socket.
The high beam connector is not making a good connection to the bulb's socket.

check the electrical connections near the battery, they have a problem with corrosion and can cause some of these problems. you may need to get an auto electrician to trace these wires for you.
