Depends largely on the plastic. Generally polyethylene and polypropylene, which are the more common plastics used, are fairly chemically inert and will be fine for most substances (be wary of strong solvents).
Once you get into the other types of plastics you will have to check each one as they are of varying chemical structure and will react differently.
Some of the other types are PET, ABS, Polystyrene, Polyester, Nylon, Acetal, PBT, SAN, polyurethane, etc

There are too many plastics to answer simply. I do know that high density polyethelene drums are often marked " Not for Nitric acid Storage". Just moved one today.
