Forgive the lack of classiness of this question, but can having an endeavor of the "intimate kind" damage a mattress? What about it damaging a Daybed Mattress and the thing that holds the mattress up?

Oh, I meant whether or not it'd break the springs or damage it that way.

Not unless he is free falling from a plane , and you are waiting in a "catcher's" position to receive his bat.

Most Box Springs and Mattress sets are designed for a life-Span of about 10 years use - and then they should be replaced. In some cases, like if the set is a cheaper Brand or line, or the bed belongs to a frisky and heavier couple - that willl lead to premature failure of the sleep system as well.

Air bed systems usually last about twice as long as conventional box springs and mattress systems.

Also as mattresses age do you notice that they seem to get heavier? Well yiur not imagining it - it's true, and just where is that weight comiing from? The answer is you , the extra weight is dust mitesand that feed oof of the skin cells you shed as you sleep, and ah - other wise entertain yourself.

Traditional bed systems are comprised of an adjustable angle iron bed frame, three 1" x3" (nominal) bed slats, (these are the three pieces of wood that are placed onto the lip of the angle Iron frame -one at the head of the bed, one near the middle, and one near the foot of the bed. The slats support the box springs, which inturn support the mattress,

If you are concerned that your amorous connubbuling can build to Professional Bull Riding Status, and go on for hours, puttting the old workbench at risk, then may I suggest that you have your stud muffin get anothe 1" x 3" cut to lentgh, and install it between the bed frame and the box springs , and that he re-distribute the (NOW 4), bed slats to be equally spaced under the box springs. This added suspension member should more than accomodate your rambunctious and enthusiatic times.together

Ah to be young again. Rock on Sweetie.

WELL... How much do you weigh? How much does your partner weigh? And how many people are bouncing in that bed with you all?

The more everyone weighs, the faster the springs will get messed up. Your daybed mattress is likely to be low quality and to suffer the most.

You might want to look into getting a "Liberator." These are neat-o foam things that you use to prop and support yourselves during sex. If you used them you would not damage that daybed. The link below takes you to their web site. It is adult-oriented.

Depends a lot on the size of you and your partner, how aggressive your encounters are, and the quality of the mattress, but yes, you can pound out a mattress and totally destroy it :-)
However, the upside is that you can put it in the spare room so that
a) you get a better sleep than your guests (You will be up making coffee before they go snooping through your cupboards)
b) Any time you are feeling bummed out, you can look at that bed, remember a few of those crazy nights (especially the ones when the neighbors called and asked you to close the window), and smile.
Have Fun!

No you can get your groove on and not damage the mattress or the boards because most beds these days are meant for endurance. I have a bed that the hubby and I have had for over 18 years and it still has no damage to the underside of it. So don't worry about the boards and stuff, over time they will weaken with normal wear and tear and that is considered normal. Have fun being normal ! Janet

The mattress may be stained but I can't see it being damaged. A mattress cover is a good idea. Water proof ones are available to keep mattresses from getting stained.

cait, I know what you mean...believe me I do (smile).

For mattress protection, I suggest a mattress pad. you can find them just about everywhere, walmart, target, bed, bath and beyond, linens and things.

For support, you may want to add an extra plank to support the mattress and box spring.

It can, and dose in some cases.
Generally the higher quality the mattress the more resilient it is to such activities.

i would imagine it puts a little more wear n tear on the mattress than say a nap would, but ive had quite a few of these encounters, most of them on mattresses, n i havent broken one yet....btw, my kitchen table works good too n its still standing as well.
