OK, the moon hasn't hit the earth because it keeps missing! The earth tries to pull it closer, but it keeps moving sideways too. The combined result of gravity and the sideways movement is that it keeps going round the earth in an orbit. It's a similar effect to swirling a weight on a string above your head; the tension in the string is like gravity. To move the moon off course would take a huge amount of force. Even then, to get it to hit the earth would mean reducing its orbital speed to about zero, as the earth is a small target to hit. Even reducing its speed to half would mean it goes round the earth in an elongated, or elliptical orbit. It would be easier to knock the moon out of orbit completely. So the chance of hitting the earth is pretty much zero. The sort of thing that could make that happen would be so immensely catastrophic that it may well destroy the earth anyway, so the moon colliding with us really isn't an issue at all. The sort of event that could do this is an enormous object, a similar size to the moon or bigger, hurtling from nowhere and impacting the moon almost exactly opposite to its orbital direction. Well, if there were something that size coming towards us in our solar system we'd have seen it by now. Unless it was so far out we couldn't see it, but then it would be many many years away. The other thing to bear in mind is that space is BIG! The gaps between planets are huge. If you were to shoot a thousand moon-sized object into the solar system at high speed, the chance of a collision would still be extremely small. In short, this is not a danger that any astronomers worry about. Much more of a concern are asteroids whose orbits come close to ours, and the danger that one day a big piece of rock may hit earth. There are survey telescopes looking out for such things, and many ideas as to how to deal with anything that might become a threat. In short, don't lose any sleep over this!

The best thing that could happen is that the atmosphere would rush off into space since gravity is the only thing holding it down. It would be like what you see happens in movies when a window breaks in a spacecraft. But suppose you are able to hold on to something and stay in a building that is able to stand the pressure as the outside becomes a vacuum, this scenario just might be survivable for a while. The worst case scenario is not survivable. And it is the most probable.
Not only the atmosphere exerts pressure on the surface because of gravity. Earths core is also incredibly pressurized because of the weight of the entire planet. If the effects of gravity (because of some alien weapon maybe) suddenly seized in the core the entire planet would explode Star Wars style since there wouldn´t be any force to counter the immense pressure. So bye bye planet earth. We hardly knew ya.

If gravity would be zero, then the weightlessness situation would arise. Everything on the earth would be weightless. Remember l have said ''weightless'' not ''massless''.
The worst thing that could happen is that, everything on earth would be in a floating situation, every big meteor would damage the earth severly. Then there would be greate big holes on its surface. Due to decrease in gravity, gravitational force would also be affected. And due to this, the escape velocity of earth (now beign 11.2 km per sec) would decrease and more and more amount of substance would be scattered in the space. Even the gas molecules would be far apart from earth and then due to this, slowly an steadly, life would be finished.
There would be very good thing for fat people that noe they don't have to worry regarding their increasing ''weight''.
Moreover, we'll be able to travel wherever we want by floating in the air, theres no need of passports and visas. We would be our own aeroplane. This all can be done if the atmosphere of earth exists.

Moon will be lost. All loose objects strting from the equator will go into space. No free water will be left.
Vocanoes will pew out heavily, though this will be into space.
The earth will become lighter and its distance from the sun will increase.
There will be terrific storms with the atmosphere streaming out in a sheet around the equator.
All oxygen breathers will die. Any thing moving will go into space. Those inside cages and houses will stiil survive for a while. Anchored life forms, like trees will remain. Though centrifugal force at the equator might uproot most. Without atmosphere these will also die.
Earth will lose all loose rocks soil and such mostly from the equatorial belt. This may alter the mass sufficiently to modify earths rotation on its axis.. It may disintegrate to smaller pieces.
One can go on for ever....

to be very much realistic, u should think when will the earths gravity become zero. either when the earth will be destroyed or when masses stop attracting, that means no mass substance will be stable. so life will not exist cuz lumps will not be formed. or you saying the earth will remain intact and the forces will be destroyed. but that means mass and energy will be destroyed. so the earth will not remain intact. think man it cannot happen if there is no change in the earth and us. this is practically impossible. if your asking that if it happens while there is no change in the earth and us, that is not an astronomical question. that is totally an impossible question which has no correct answer but can be answered only through imagination.

The earth would explode like a super nova [ small ] if it's gravity disappeared.
The fact remains that nothing else would happen except the explosion, good bad or indifferent.
If the gravity slowly dissipated, the atmosphere would begin to leave.
As the surface pressure became less interior magma would start to blast out of the ground.
If you jumped too hard you may not come down again, you would be best just to get the hell out of there, fast.

The best that can happen is you have a tether to keep you from floating off into space and can move around with zero resistance. You could run faster than a cheetah and leap tall buildings (in a single bound!). Of course everyone else could do the same things, but that's okay.

1. For gravity to be zero, the mass of earth will have to reduce to zero - thats a practical impossibility.
2. Assuming that the gravity still reduces to zero, earth will no longer be able to retain oxygen and water (which will dissipate into space), and all life will end.
So all the people who think it will be fun, can go take a walk :)
Cheers

There really isn't anything good that could happen as a result of the earth having no gravity. It would be an unprecedented catastrophe. All life would be doomed very quickly from any number of different effects.

the worst would be the destruction of the earth itself..
the atmosphere will be gone, we all die because of ultraviolet radiation and suffocation.. our body will fly away from earth.. basically, everything will float into space such as rocks, water from ocean,.. hmm.. everything..
too bad, you wont be there to have fun..
but if the gravity become low, about the same as moon, then it would be a bit fun.. we could not fly, but can jump higher..
we can have fun at zero gravity, if we are in a spaceship..
