Yesterday i purchased the parts to build my new computer. I had the hardest time deciding which os to go with vista or xp. XP does not slow down the games which will be the main use of my computer. However, vista is DX10 ready. The parts to my system are GeForce 8800GTS 640MB, mushkin DDR2 800 2GB, Intel Core 2 Duo E6600 Conroe, MSI P6N SLI Platinum. The video card I purchased is DX10 ready however the os i purchased, xp is not. Should i have purchased Vista to get DX10 game ready or being that the video card is DX10 ready will that be enough to take advantage of DX10?

Vista is not really the best OS for gaming. XP will do just fine for years to come. DX 10 will be compatable with both but Vista is a graphics intense memory hog and I am sure that, just like all the other Microsoft OS's, there are many bugs that will craw from the woodwork. Microsoft has always marketed their products before they were done and polished. I see no indication that they have changed their tactics.

if you have the money, go for vista. ever since i saw vista's graphics on my current pc, it's painful to use my old one that runs XP. nice system=)
