Cardiovascular exercise is what it says it is...it gets your cardiovascular system going....it gets your heart pumping and your blood flowing.
For Cardio you can run, dance, bike, skate, climb stairs...or my personal favorite: roller skate.

hi there big Jim,,, if the big means what it says,,,,
cardiovascular exercise is when you do some kind of exercise that make your heart rate go up to and above 130 beats per min, between 130- 150 makes your heart muscle work hard but making it work keeps it healthy,, 4 times a week,, 129 and below normally is fat burning (105-129)
i do both but on alternate days and the results are good
BUT if you are thinking of taking up this kind of exercise seek the guidance of a trainer at the gym who will show you all the right things to do for you in particular

Basically it is any exercise that significantly elevates your heart rate for a sustained period. Not only does it help you loose weight, it lowers blood pressure, blood sugar and cholesterol, so it is very good for you. Good examples are jogging, rowing, cycling or cross trainer work. You need to try and get your heart rate up to 80% of the predicted maximum for your age, assuming you have no medical issues or medications that would prevent this.
Recommended duration is 30-40 minutes 4-5 times a week.

Horizontal jogging! Anything that gets the old ticker going in short! If your really unfit, then making a cheese and jam sandwich could be classifed as such an activity! but for most able bodied folk, it involves jogging, brisk walking or cycling etc
