Carly destroyed the reputation of the company. It went from being the company so reliable that a HP calculator lands the sace shuttle, to a company that was seriously compared unfavorably to emachines.
The company is making quite a comback right now, and I now regualrly recommend them. Their tech support used to be supurb when it was in Phoenix, but now that it's in India, people dont like it. EVERYBODY hates indian tech support!
My last expeience with hp tech support was when the paper in my printer started going off to the right. All that's needed is a 20 cent rubber part, right? The tech refused to give me the part unless I did an operating system reinstall for a HARDWARE issue. HE WAS ONLY READING A SCRIPT!!!!!If I would have follwed his directions I would have lost ALL of my data. I know ALL the windows install screens by heart. I just told him I saw this, saw that. 3 minutes later I was finished. The tech was SO undereducated, that he didn't realize that a OSRI should have taken 40 minutes and I did it in 3. He would have known I was lying if he was a REAL tech.
THATS why people dog HP!!!
But dont worry, most other tech support from other companies isn't much better

that company is vary good and they are all so hp cp compaq.they merg.like dell gateway,ibm.but they gave up on use support went down hill when they got the money.go buy someone else brand and you get same computer cheaper and you get all the help need and you pay haf the price.same parts our may be better just depends on two things inside computer chip frist and mother.a lot of ram will a lot.ram will make it go lot faster. names on computers dont mean nothing its whats inside that matters .and all the help.support you when you need most.i got a acer laptop wireless great computer and support the best.im on my dell4400 desktop now but ilove my laptop better. just useing this one for a base unitfor my wireless laptop

I like all my hp products. Have 3 computers and 1 printer from HP. Don't know why "people have against HP" like you are saying.

Well a few HP laptops have burned as have other brands opf laptops but I love my HP printer/copier/scanner and a friend loves her HP desk top

Because since they merged with Compaq their product quality for PC's has declined. Their customer support has always been poor. I used HP for several years then switched to Dell and they have been terrific.
