Several weeks of big talk about "forcing the Pres. to withdraw troops" and not giving him a "blank check". All that grandstanding and they now approve funding the troops (no strings attached) after all. Thanks dems for wasting time, the tax payer's money, and most importantly the lives of our soldiers. Was it worth it?

Chredon: how typical to turn it around on Bush. You are naive if you think Congress had decent intentions. It was political showboating at it's finest and Bush stared them down and did what was right. Pretty much what he has been doing since he was elected. Grow up.

bado463: Again, whine about Bush all you want, but you should be embarrassed by what a democratic led congress did.

I would just like to take this opportunity to thank liberal chred for clarifying the patriotism of democrats:

"The Democrats couldn't get what they wanted (withdrawal), so they instead chose to support the troops in the field."

Its nice to see they support the troops only when theyre forced to and have no other choice. It must be nice to have that politcal "see I support the troops" button they can push when all else fails!

Here is how it seems. the dems promised their socialist base, about 18% of the party, that they would shut down the war if they got into control. The base helped them win a few seat with soros's millions. now it is payback time.

the dems however were not completly honest with the socialists, the know it would be very hard to do, and they knew they would not just cut off funding because the rest of AMerica would toss them on their ears at the next election.

What I think is funny or sad, some americans still believe the dems and will vote for them even though they are constantly lied to, and the dems have painted themselves into a corner on this one. Most American are not stupid, they know the dems are playing games all along, but it is playing with our soldiers lives which AMerica will not tolerate.

The elections should be good in 08

America always wants an opposition party. Never has there been a party in power that would satisfy the voters, which is why the second party always comes back. It's happened when Truman, Johnson, Clinton and W. Bush were in office. All of them had their party in control of the congress and they all failed to hold on to the advantage. Obama is no different, sooner or later the public will push back against the Democrats.

To answer the question: I doubt it! The dems, most notably the presidential candidates and the committee chairpeople have been promising "investigations upon investigations, hearing after hearing, until we get to the bottom of ..."

What? The barrel? The approval rating? Your credibility?

They seem to believe that they have some kind of mandate, when in actuality Republicans blew it by not controlling spending, and capitulating their conservitave views in order to "get along." Conservatism WINS elections (Ronald Regan 1980, 1984, and The Contract with America--House victory in 1994), capitulation LOSES them (2006)! Two things need to happen for the Republicans to regain power in 2008: Republicans need to get their act together, fall back on sound conservative principals, and the dems need to keep making fools of themselves with their silly investigations, partisianship, and arrogance! The more they tout their far left wing, moveon.org driven, ultra liberal agenda, the more opportunity the American people have to see that they CANNOT LEAD this country, all they care about is their own retention of power and control, and the more they offer the Republicans a chance to take back congress. Here's to hoping that the Republicans collect themselves, remember that they are there to represent the PEOPLE, and that people as a whole want SMALLER, less intrusive government, and representatives that are NOT BLOW HARDS or full of themselves!

Political show-boating at its best. I've been saying for months now that they intend on pulling this crap until the presidential election and then blaming it all on Bush. You see they have no real "plan" or "coarse of action." The plan is to use these stall tactics to get a Lib in the White House. The best part of their plan is if they do get a Lib in office they can do nothing for FOUR YEARS. Then they can blame that on "cleaning up after Bush." I know I was shocked too when they folded as fast as they did. I thought they would ride that one out until September. Thank God we got some money to the troops though. It just really gets me that they only "support our troops" when forced to do so. Hopefully the bandwagon Americans wake up before '08. Those of you who I'm talking about know who you are. You consider yourself "independent", and you always "vote for change." Since the world is never perfect you will always vote for the party not in power. If you are one of those people YOU SUCK. Until the Libs are out of power I will be praying for America.

They did not just waste our time & every news cast for weeks, but what bills did they pass in this time. Not nearly enough, they were too busy doing news clips & going back & forth to the White House trying to tell the Commander in Chief what to do. No it was not worth it. Most of America say the handwriting on the wall a couple of weeks ago. The President was not going to give up his duty & there was no way to "make" him as he is not up for reelection.

I am way too old to say "I told you so" so instead I say "nanabooboo". - so childish of me. wink, wink.

They knew they made a major mistake in playing God and the people let them know. They are now gonna be the minority again in 08 so they are pretty much useless to us and always will be those Dems. Are they even human?

They wussed out as usual, what did you expect from the Dem Congress? Bush is not killing our soldiers like someone else said. We are taking down the enemy that killed our innocent civilians in 2001.

They wimped out - Its not right to pass the entire cost of an endless war on to the next generation through deficit spending.

Congress should have told Bush that if he wants another 100 billion dollars to pay for his war for the next 5 months, that the funding bill is going to include a provision for"Pay as you go" financing - which requires that his tax cuts be rolled back in order to produce 100 billion dollars in new revenue during the same period.
