As a good and respectable wife, I make sure to make a new custom made pillow for my husband at least twice a year. My sewing machine is always in perfect shape for this occasion and I always make absolutely sure that the materials and dimensions are just right. After all, it is my responsibility and I have to make sure his time in bed is well spent so he can get up and go to work happy to be earning money for us! Hahahaha

Gee. You sound just like my first husband who believed that I should be thrilled to make his lunch for him to take to work -- after having put in a full 12-hour day baking 8 loaves of bread by hand, looked after the kids, washed his clothes by hand, plus a dozen dirty diapers, split about a quarter cord of wood, made dinner, listen to him complain about the laundry being strung out all over the cabin to dry. [It doesn't dry real well on the clothes line when it's -30 and we didn't have a washer/dryer either.] His theory was that if I really loved him I would show it by doing these simple things for him. And I was stupid enough to think he had a point.
Whether or not it's a pillow, a pair of socks or expected to show signs of joy over making a sandwich ... you might be in need of an attitude adjustment. Expectations being what they are and all. Why don't you make her a pillow? If you really loved her you would, wouldn't you? While you're at it you can make one for yourself. That way you'll get exactly the right kind of pillow. Remember, if you want the job done right -- do it yourself.

Hahaha...if my husband only allowed "homemade" pillows in our house, there wouldn't be a single pillow in sight. I do not have the gift of sewing. Both my mother and grandmother were great seamstresses and so are all my aunts but not me. I do own a sewing machine and have made one skirt with it. Sewing just doesn't seem to be my thing. My husband and I both like sleeping with alot of pillows. We have about eight on the bed and they're all store bought. However, if my husband suddenly demanded a homemade pillow, I'd do my best to make him one.

You could say yes but I never asked him just went out and bought them and he never complained. However; I am quite capable of making my own pillows. In fact; I made a patch work square pillow by hand; not by machine but by hand; sewed each and every square and then I connected them; like I said before by hand. You don't have to submit, in order to make a pillow; all you do is get the material, get out a sewing kit, a magnet to keep track of the needle and pins that might have fallen, and just start sewing. I've also made a large pillow as well by hand.

I don't own a sewing machine and my hubby don't care about those things so I just buy pillows for the store. You are right though I don't think that pillows would be hard to make. I actually made a quilt one time.

I wouldn't ask my husband for permission to buy something like a pillow - I simply use my credit card, which I pay for from my salary - and buy it. If however, my husband prefers a home sewn pillow, I will gladly allow him to use my sewing machine and make it himself! And he can sleep by himself with his perfect homade pillow too. A marriage is a partnership and doesn't include things like "tells her", "let her" or "submits".

I can't sew, so even making a pillow is out of my league. We've always had store bought pillows. Besides, if men spend 1/3 of their life in bed, why does she just make a mattress while she is at it?

What??!! Does my husband allow me to buy store bought pillows? Sheesh! First of all, buddy, I don't have to ask permission to go out and buy pillows - or most other things, for that matter. Secondly, I do not especially enjoy sewing. If my husband was a real nut about pillows, he could go pillow shopping to his heart's content and find the perfect one. In this century, we don't allow (or forbid) each other to make minor decisions like that. What else does your wife ask permission to do?

Have you made a pillow for your wife yet? If a sewing machine is too complicated for you, you can always make a needle from a sliver of bone. It would be a very loving gesture. I have no husband and when I did we never used pillows. He would rest his head on me and I would support him. My own head dangled off the edge of the bed because that was more comfortable for me.

My husband does NOT want me making his pillows. I am lucky to sew button back on shirts and pants.
But the submission of a wife to a husband is not about submission like you speak of. What you speak of is abuse, what the Bible speaks of is respect.
