Just like the 1859 event knocked out the world's telegraph system, the right solar expulsion will destroy all satellites or knock out electricity grids permanently or pass inertly through everything, like neutrinos do, except for interacting with any/all enriched material (and some naturally occurring radioactive sources) kick-starting it, so no containment is possible
