I am doing some research on old treatments in early 1900 sanitariums/ insane asylums. Both abuse, and just the ways they used to treat conditions. I have tried searching the internet and keep coming up with very little information. Location of the place is not an issue. I just need an informational site with old pictures and a very good description about what went on. Maybe I am not using that right key words, who knows.. But some help would be wonderful! Thank you!

Find a book called "The Snake Pit." I don't remember the author, but it was turned into a movie in the late 1930's or early 1940's.

It is the story of a mentally ill woman's ordeal in a mental hospital. Apparently the sheer horror more or less scared her senses back into her, but it took a while for her to get out of the asylum. It was a pretty graphic story.
