Why does Hollywood tend to be so Liberal?

Why do they have to give their opinions anyway Conservative or Liberal just act or sing or what ever no matter what you say your potentialy pissing off half your audience.

First of all, I respect anyone and everyone's right to their own opinion. However, some liberals in the entertainment industry DO tend to not know to shut up when discretion would preserve the longevity of their career. How much common sense does it take to realize when your fan base is largely conservative and you say something to undermine the president during a time of war you can expect to have some negative repercussions.

In my opinion, Hollywood tends to lean to the left because of a sense of entitlement that seems to be one of the most prevalent characteristics of liberals. What's interesting about entertainers having liberal views is it isn't themselves who feel entitled. They feel EVERYONE (this is a word that liberals everywhere use when they talk about poor people) is entitled to EVERYTHING (financial stability, health care, etc.) rich people have.

It isn't surprising to me at ALL that entertainers lean to the left. These are people who have their great wealth thanks to talent, a great deal of luck, and knowing the right people. Sure, there is an awesome amount of hard work and perseverance involved, but Hollywood is FULL of hardworking, dedicated individuals who will never see their name on a list of credits.

Entertainment has had a long history of defying conventional behavior. One generation will probably never fully latch on to the next generation's taste in music and movies. In the past that has done nothing to deter record sales or box office numbers. Sure the sales may dip for a bit, but that's why there are public relations specialists to clean up reputations.

You can please some of the people some of the time, but not all of the people all of the time. Guess it might just be best to watch ones tongue when the situation calls for it!

Maybe because people have created a whole industry around the lives of actors and Hollywood people. If people weren't so obsessed with the real lives of these people they wouldn't have a stage to say what they do. People who follow the lives of celebrities piss me off.

But to answer why they are so liberal, is that most of them have open world views and are more globally concious than conservative America.

These are people who never had any money who have become so insanely wealthy they feel guilty. They can (and do) have anything they want, they have indulged every fantasy, every personal whim, and now they have nothing left to do except make more money and wait to die. So they begin to want to 'help' people so they when they die they won't face eternal dangnation, but they've got no clue in the first place, so they turn to all these liberal causes.

The rich conservatives are either greedier, experienced at being rich, or just not as wealthy and want to make more money. They turn to empire building.

Both serve the same goal in the long run - a world government with one monetary system and a God-like Uber-Emperor. The road to Heck is paved with good intentions.

Its funny I watch this documentary the other day about Christian television and this question came up and some of the Evangelists said that Hollywood brainwashes people so the interviewer asked why with millions and millions of profit the these TV shows make why don't they make films for their viewers they couldn't answer.
Some people are not prepared to put their money where their mouths are.

I have a theory.
All people use one side of their brain more than the other. One half of the brain controls creativity, art, and such, while the other half controls logic, reasoning, math, etc.

The people that favor the creative side end up as artists, actors, dancers, movie directors, etc. They also tend to be more liberal in their political beliefs as a result of being inclined to be more emotional, empathic, and creative.

People that favor the logical side of the brain usually end up in business, science, etc. This tends to make them more politically conservative as they use logic, reason, and math to solve problems.

Think about it, you have a shallow group of Americans who have wealth the rest of us can't imagine. Most haven't even attended college. They are so isolated from the real world they live in a fantasy world. They have the luxury of telling the rest of us how to think and that gives them power and confidence to think they are in some way better. Sounds like your typical liberal to me.

Because they don't live in the "real" world. Do you think Rosie worries about how much it costs to fill up at the gas station? Do you think Alec Baldwin's kids are getting a public education? Do you suppose Leonardo DiCaprio has to worry about the cost of any medications he may need? No, they have no idea what it means to live in our world.
