The Constitution does not gibe us freedom, the military that protects it gives us the freedoms that the Constitution spells out. God bless our military.

The military that fought in the American Revolution fought for our freedom and it was important that they won that war. But I don't think it's right to say that the military is always fighting for our freedom. Right now our troops our not fighting for our freedom in Iraq. They are fighting for whatever grand scheme George Bush had for Iraq, whether it was democracy, WMD, oil or military bases. We would still be free if the Iraq War had never taken place and it is unfair to say that the troops our fighting for our freedom right now.

No we have freedom because of the U.S. Constitution and Bill of Rights.

In part, yes. Even today, most governments do not allow their citizens the same level of freedom that Americans enjoy. Without the U.S. military, we would have probably fallen under one of those tyrannical governments many years ago.

Actually, US freedom is largely an illusion.
We have close to the highest incarceration rate, per capita, on earth. Hardly free at all.
