This is funny because I just gone through with all of this. First I took a $51 pregnancy test from Walgreens [like a cvs] and it said positive but when I buy one from my local dollar store, it came up negative. I cant say I know exactly which one was right or if Im pregnant or not but you take the lucky guess which one would be more accurate lol.

I say wait about 6-9 days after your period is due to take another test. And try not to worry about it..

Good luck =)

Every Test ive taken (with the exception of two) were from the dollar store. I found out i was pregnant in October 2006 using a dollar store test. I did two more just to be sure. I then went to my dr who used a test that looked just like the one i got at the dollar store. i also took an ept but thats because my homegirl at work had one just sitting around at home. They all came out with the same results. Im 37 weeks now and due any day. Good Luck!!!

Home pregnancy tests (HPTs) are designed to only detect hCG, a hormone released by the placenta right after the embryo begins implanting into the uterine lining. When the hormone is released it can be detected in a pregnant woman's blood and urine.

The earliest time a hCG test will detect a pregnancy is about 8 days after conception or about 1 week before the next period is due. However, this is only possible for about 5% of women. Most women will show a positive hCG level by about 11 to 12 days after conception or a couple of days before the next period would have been due.

By day 28 (first day of missed menses) the hCG level in serum, plasma or urine is about 100 mIU/ml. This should be detectable by all pregnancy tests. There is a very big variation in individual hCG concentrations. At this time, the extremes of normal levels are approximately 5 to 450 mIU/ml in serum or plasma samples.

Some pregnant women at this time will have a low level hCG and will not register on HPTs by the time they are a few days late for their period. Some normal pregnancies will have quite low hCG levels and still progress, ending in the birth of a healthy baby.

Some tests are very sensitive and will detect even very low levels of hCG (12.5 mIU/ml) in your urine. If you want to know as soon as possible, these tests are the best choice for you.
Examples: First Response Early Result, hCG One Step Ultra, LifeSign Midstream

Most tests will detect levels of hCG 25 to 50 mIU/ml in your urine. These tests are good for when your period is a day overdue.
Examples:
Walgreens, Rite-Aid, Inverness, Target, Boots, Family Dollar, First Response, Drug Emporium

Pregnancy tests are very accurate as long as you use them properly. If you have any concerns you should always discuss your results with your Doctor or health care provider.

Good luck

Those cheap tests aren't always accurate. Check the instructions, if you're not even late yet, it might be too soon. There are some early tests, but I think they cost a little more. Go to Walgreens and browse, or browse the website if you don't want to hang around staring at the pregnancy tests. If money is an issue, you can get a free pregnancy test at your local Planned Parenthood. they're in the phonebook and on the web.

Are you serious? They sell those? You'd better make sure it's not expired...I wouldn't trust it. But before getting another test, I would wait another week or even two. Sometimes it takes a little while for the pregnancy hormone to kick in. If you take the test too early it won't register that you are pregnant even if you are.

All pregnancy tests have to be approved by the FDA so basically they are all the same but the cheapies just aren't as fancy looking. Often, the cheapies will detect lower amounts of pregnancy hormones so they are very reliable. Go here for a list of pregnancy tests and their sensitivities--www.peeonastick.com

There's your problem, You havent had a missed period.
So it cant detect the hormne yet, too early . Wait till your preiod is due or after it is missed.
All tests are the same pretty much. Some need morning pee cause it cant detect it good enough.

These are not reliable. There's a reason they are cheap. Go with brand name. Probably about a month ago, there was a consumer warning put out about these.
