I think that might mean different things to different people. If someone says this in a conversation, you might ask them what they mean and see what they say in response.

If I were to say that I'm more spiritual than religious then I'd probably mean I was connected to spiritual matters and perhaps the idea of divinity but I wasn't connected as much to a specific organized religion or going to a church.

When they say they are spiritual, it means that they don't necessarily believe in God or Jesus but they believe in something spiritual. It also means that they don't go to any church, temple, or synagogue. Actually, you are probably talking to an atheist but you are religious and this person likes you and knows you want to hear this. If you are religious and this person is not, do yourself a favor and don't begin dating. You both think differently on a major issue.

Well, you see, religion can't make you spiritual like being kind does not make you a saint. Religion can't really confirm anything on your spiritual growth. It can help you a lot though. Spiritual I think is like a connection between you and your God alone. You can be religious but may not have a personal relationship with your God.

It usually means that the religions they have tried are not doing it for them, and that they have found a more comfortable way to intertwine with the universe. The Universal knowledge is there for everyone. you just have to listen for it. Not always through the ears of someone Else's interpretation A person whose temple is nature, and in the sounds and feelings of nature usualy says this about themselves. It doesnt mean they dont believe in a creator, rather they see the work and deeds of the creator in the workings of natural things.

It only means that one is more open to spiritual things of God and is not considered religious as opposed to church beliefs.

Religion is a set of rules... Spirituality is a belief. Religion has a way of telling you how to live. Spirituality lets you live. Your beliefs or your rules.

They are essentially saying they like the concept of super-natural entities, but aren't willing to accept the tenets of any specific religious order.

It means they have the feeling or belief there is a higher power or powers, acknowledge it and do a self-search and work to connect with it but they they do not participate in an organized denomination.

That they have an inner peace and deeper understanding. They may believe in a God of some sort, but they may not align themselves with a particular religion or denomination.

means they don't believe in God or organized religion but they believe in Evolution/Mother Nature or non-organized religion. Or, they have their own religion/faith. Most people won't admit that they don't believe in God because only 10% feel this way. It also means they are philosophical but not following a religion; religion breeds prejudice, which breeds violence & ignorance.
