I had a friend who used to say that one day the world will be made up entirely of MacDonalds restaurants and cemeteries... since both are expanding inexorably. (MacD's boast that they open a restaurant somewhere around the world every 15 minutes or so, I'm not sure how fast graveyards are growing) but since graveyards get turned over eventually and redeveloped, and happens for buildings, it's not likely.
What is more likely is that the world will be taken over by oceans and deserts ... desertification is happening at a huge rate, aided by death and MacDonalds, as humans clear native forests, woodlands and grasslands, and increasing levels of carbon dioxide from all that death and MacDonalds raises the sea levels...

I would say the world already is one big cemetery. Graves can and are moved all the time. It take 20 years before a grave can be reused but once the time has past they can place you on top of the last guy. Eventually though space will become to precious and they will find other routes.

I don't think so sweetie, I myself am going to be cremated. Several cemeteries are starting to stack family members.
They do this a lot in Japan and China. Husband and wife vaults are being used in some cemeteries. So with these measures already taking place, there will more than likely more stringent methods taking place in the near future.
There is also the nature burial. This is where the body is wrapped in cloth and buried in the natural lay of the land to turn back to nutrients for the soil with very little disturbance to the Eco system. Green Grave is one type.

That's scary. I remember Mcdonalds boasting that. We have enough.
Someday they'll drain the oceans and chop down the rain forests for more grave yards.

Astonishingly, i was thinking the same thing. How much cemetery space are we consuming per year vs. how much living space are we expanding into per year? We know the earth's space is finite, so at what point in history will cemetery space equal living space? We need a mathmatician to figure this out....lol

You are young. Most old cemeteries end up forgotten and covered over.
Then the bulldozer comes along.

No. If it actually becomes a problem for space, we'll get rid of dead people some other way.
